To Rent Or Buy Tents, That Is The Question
When you buy tents, you will have them to use time and time again. This will also save you money for the long term especially if you are going to be using them often. Although the responsibility of cleaning, storing and repairing comes with owning tents, you will avoid spending money on rental fees. In addition to this, owning your own tents allows you to learn the best way to put them up and take them down and in this way the job will take less time in the future. Also, being a tent owner enables you to be familiar with how much space tents take up which can help you pack more efficiently for each camping trip.
The flip side of this coin is the pros of renting tents. Tent rentals eliminates the responsibility to store, clean, or perform any maintenance work other than ensuring that the tent is returning it in the same condition you received it. Also, renting reduces the risk of being stuck with a tent that didn’t quite live up to its expectations. Renting gives you the flexibility to change models if you found that model used for the last camping trip did not suit your needs.
Renting is probably the most sensible option for people who are not frequent campers or or are camping for the first time. It will give you the opportunity to test several different models over time. This experience can empower you to make an informed buying choice whenever you are ready to commit to getting your own tent. Of course, buying tents will be an expensive investment, but your experience will help you avoid the possibility of making an unfortunate purchasing mistake. While renting you could be fortunate enough to discover the perfect tent model on your third rental and take the plunge to buy that model for the next camping trip.
If you are only going to use a tent for a few times, then renting is definitely the option to take. Also, when planning a big event, it’s better to rent tents instead of buying them for these special occasions for a couple of reasons. First, the tent will need to be set up and if you have never done this before, you may find it is not as easy as you think. The worst situation is erecting a tent incorrectly and noticing it only after the event is already underway.
Buy tents only if you intend to use them on a regular basis. If this is the case, then you should take advantage of the Internet and the many options available. Retailers all have different stock as well as different pricing policies. Any good retailer will have a website complete with pictures that allow customers to view exactly what they offer before you buy. Also, you should find retailers that have a return policy because this gives you extra protection when you buy tents.
